2020 Expanding cover crops grant program

To promote wider adoption of the use of cover crops, the WWCC is offering grants to Farmers who meet either of these criteria:

NON-MEMBERS: We are offering $25/acre (40 acre maximum) for Farmers who join the WWCC, plant cover crops in Fall 2020 for the first time on any of their fields, and agree to complete a short, one-page survey (attached) about the experience in Spring 2021.

MEMBERS: We are offering $25/acre (40 acre maximum) for existing Members who are trying a different approach to cover crops on any of their fields in Fall 2020, and agree to complete a short, one-page survey (attached) about the experience in Spring 2021. Examples of “different approaches” include: planting different crops to previous years; adding sunflowers, radishes, legumes to the seed mix; terminating the cover crop after Spring 2021; using an inter-seeder to plant the cover crop before fall harvest of soybeans or corn silage, etc.

Applications will be reviewed in the order received. Cost-sharing awards will be distributed in Spring 2021 until funds are fully expended.

To be eligible for a grant, applicants must complete and return Section 1 of this Application before September 1, 2020. To receive funds, applicants must complete and return Section 2 of this Application before March 1, 2021. All individual farm data is kept strictly confidential.
